What is cognitive computing?
Cognitive computing includes theoretical study, real world problem solving, and system implementation that arise from, relate to, or deliberately influence human’s cognition system and procedure. Cognitive computing has two complementary faces:
- Discover the secrets of human brain by exploring information technologies;
- Investigate novel computational models and systems by referencing brain structure and mind process.
Vision of cognitive computing lab
Be a leading lab in cognitive computing research, application, and education that generates worldwide impact and contributes to both cognitive computing area and local society.
Mission of cognitive computing lab
- To promote high impact interdisciplinary research for theoretical foundation of cognitive computing;
- To conduct real world problem solving for strategic important applications of smart living, smart education, and smart healthcare;
- To nurture research students to be interdisciplinary talents.
Uniqueness of cognitive computing lab
- Work in both theoretical research and real world problem solving of cognitive computing;
- Bring together the efforts from diverse areas to delivery interdisciplinary research between brain sciences and computing in Hong Kong;
- Provide academic communication and education of cognitive computing in Asia.
