Prof. Keith C. C. Chan's research interests include data mining, bioinformatics, software engineering, and pervasive computing. As a key member of cognitive computing lab, he is responsible for conducting research cross artificial intelligence and computational biology such as EEG data analysis.
Dr. Chan is currently a Professor in the Department of Computing, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hung Hom, Hong Kong. He received the B.Math. degree in computer science and statistics, and the M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in systems design engineering from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada, in 1984, 1985, and 1989, respectively. He joined the IBM Canada Laboratory as a Senior Analyst, where he was involved in the design and development of image and multimedia, and software engineering tools. In 1993, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Ryerson University, Toronto, ON, as an Associate Professor. In 1994, he joined the Department of Computing, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hung Hom, Hong Kong, where he is currently a Professor. He is active in consultancy and has served as a Consultant to companies and government in Hong Kong, China, other parts of Asia and Europe.
