Prof. George Baciu's research interests include high performance collision detection, motion synthesis, dynamics of large scale deformable surfaces for virtual clothing, geometric modeling, and scalable micro-surface reconstruction. As a key member of cognitive computing lab, he is responsible for conducting research on visualization of brain imaging data.
Dr. Baciu is a Professor with the Department of Computing, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. He received the Degree in computer science and applied mathematics and the Ph.D. degree in systems design engineering from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada. He has been a member of the Waterloo Computer Graphics Lab and the Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence Group, Waterloo. Dr. Baciu is the founding Director of the Graphics and Multimedia Applications Laboratory, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His group performs research in image analysis, 3-D motion capture analysis, animation, collision detection, deformable objects, geometric modeling. He has published extensively and has served as a Chair in international conference committees, such as the Game Technology Conference, Pacific Graphics, Virtual Reality Software and Technology, Eurographics, Computer Graphics International, CAD/Graphics, and Computer Animation and Social Agents. He is a member of ACM.
